Dreamland: Margate Re-Opens 17/06/15
Sounds like a retro-kitsch world of curiosities...

It's been re-imagined by the slightly strange Wayne Hemmingway and his wife...

http://www.dreamland.co.uk/

No word on the magnificent old ODEON at the entrance but that would make a magnificent live music venue...

Got the crap kicked out of me by a load of greasers around 1970 in Dreamland. Ran next door to the Bali Hai pub to get away as that was full of skins. 'appy days.

Since we're doing Dreamland - I remember it from the late 60's Early 70's any body else remember the Battersea funfair? Used to be a special treat when young. Saw the first 360 degree cinema there.

Used to like it as a kid (26/27 years ago as Benbom Bros), as it was the only decent(ish) theme park you could get to and back from in a day from Hornchurch on the trains.

Probably also means that travel and entrance fee's were proper cheap in those days considering everything was comfortably paid for with my paperboy wages of £27 a week.

Margate is a proper shit hole though unless they've done it up in the 15 years since I went there on a beano.

Spooky!
I flicked on the TV this morning and there was this Housing Enforcer programme on. In one part they were in Margate and on a wall in the background was a big sign saying "Welcome to Dreamland"!!!

Just imagine, at least 20 of those poor benefit claiming immigrants in Margate will in future be able to claim "I have job".

*wipes away tear*

The white knuckle bit referred to the old pervs relieving themselves in the bogs

The last time I was in Margate it was chock full of dusky hued gentlemen looking absolutely fucking gutted and gazing wistfully in the direction of France as if to say, fuck, we've dropped a bollock by coming here.

I may or may not have visited the site during construction.

I won't be going there again.

I went when it was Bembom Brothers White Knuckle Theme Park, apart from the looping star it wasn't that white knuckle.

front down there has been getting a bit of a spruce up lately (don't go often, prefer Broadstairs and Joss Bay when I take the young egg out for day at beach)

Not sure they needed a multi million pound Turner art gallery though

There's a new ride called the Bossorator where you're main goal is to leave a room full of Bosnians without getting mugged or bum raped.
